| Rudder shaft ‘type A’; this is in one piece |
Rudder shaft ‘type B’; this is split, using a steel flange connection |
A split rudder shaft ‘type B’ offers the advantage of easy (dis)mounting the rudder blade. From rudder shaft diameter ø40mm and bigger, the flange connection is executed with a ‘male/female’ connection.
On top of the rudder shaft is a steel hub with keyed connection to connect the tiller arm. Rudder shaft diameter ø25 until ø35mm, the hub has a straight bore and keyway. Starting from rudder shaft diameter ø40 mm and bigger, the hub is executed with a taperbore (1:10) and keyway. A suitable tiller arm can be supplied. On request the rudder shaft can be executed with a square shaft end on top for emergency steering. The steel footstep bearing lovcated at the bottom, can also be supplied with a bronze liner.
